Many women love God, believe His Word, and genuinely want to live the life He designed for them. Yet quietly, many still wrestle with a question they rarely say out loud: why do I not feel like the powerful person God created me to be?
You may know the Scriptures. You may pray. You may even serve in ministry. Yet something inside still whispers that you are smaller, weaker, or less capable than what the Bible describes. That tension is not new. In many cases, it comes from misunderstanding something fundamental about how God designed our lives to unfold.
According to the Bible, there are three key realities that shape how our lives take form: creation, formation, and manifestation. Understanding these three ideas changes everything.
In this series we are exploring three realities the Bible reveals about how God works in our lives: creation, formation, and manifestation. These three ideas help explain why many believers feel disconnected from the purpose God designed for them and how our lives actually unfold according to Scripture.
Creation is where God speaks purpose first. Before anything becomes visible in our lives, God establishes intention. Formation is where God begins shaping that purpose into something visible in our lives, often through circumstances, growth, and the development of our character. Manifestation is where our choices come into play. It is the point where we either step into what God designed or continue living beneath it.
When we misunderstand this process, it is easy to feel stuck, powerless, or unsure of who we are supposed to be. But when we understand it, something shifts. We begin to see how God designed our lives to unfold and how we participate in that design through the decisions we make.
This article introduces the framework. In the next posts, we will explore each part more deeply.
Many women who believe in God still wrestle with questions like these:
Why do I feel like I am not enough even though I believe in God?
What does it mean to be created in the image of God?
What does the Bible say about purpose and identity?
Can someone miss God's plan for their life?
Why do my choices matter if God already has a plan?
These are important questions, and Scripture gives us clarity about them.
According to the Bible, many believers struggle with identity because they misunderstand how God designed humanity. Scripture shows that our lives unfold through three realities: creation, formation, and manifestation. God designs our purpose first, forms our lives intentionally, and invites us to participate in that design through the choices we make.
The Bible teaches something profound in the opening chapter of Genesis. Genesis 1:26 says, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion…”
Two important truths appear in this verse. First, humanity was created in the image of the fullness of God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Second, that design included authority. Dominion. Responsibility.
Scripture shows us that before humanity ever appeared physically on earth, God spoke purpose into existence. Humanity was first created in spirit with intention and authority before Adam was ever formed from the dust of the ground.
The Bible teaches that your life did not begin as an accident. You were designed. The real you, the spirit you, was created with purpose before you ever stepped onto this earth.
Yet many women live as if they are powerless, insignificant, or limited by circumstances. That belief does not come from Scripture. It often comes from misunderstanding how God designed us.
To understand this more clearly, it helps to recognize the three realities that shape how life unfolds: creation, formation, and manifestation.
Creation is where God speaks something into existence. Before anything becomes visible, God establishes its purpose. Genesis 1 shows God creating through His Word. Humanity was created in God's image with authority and purpose before Adam ever appeared physically on the earth.
Genesis 2 introduces the next step. God forms Adam from the dust of the ground and breathes life into him. Formation is where what was created in the spirit begins to take visible shape.
The same principle applies in our lives. God designs something first, and then He begins forming it. This is often the space where faith lives. Hebrews 11:1 reminds us that faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. Sometimes what God has created in your life already exists in the spirit before it appears in the natural, and faith allows us to trust what God has spoken before it fully takes form.
Formation also reminds us of something deeply personal. The way you think, the gifts you carry, and the personality you bring into a room are not random details. According to the Bible, you are God's workmanship, and He formed you intentionally.

Once we understand creation and formation, the next step becomes clear. Manifestation happens when we begin to live in alignment with what God has already designed.
Creation and formation come from God, but manifestation involves us. Genesis 2 shows Adam being given authority to name the animals. God brought them to him, but Adam had to step into the authority God had already given him.
This is where many believers struggle. God has designed something powerful inside of them, but they do not choose to walk in it. Scripture shows us that choices matter. You may not always choose what happens to you, but you can choose how you respond. You can choose whether you walk in faith. You can choose whether you step into the authority God has given you.
Your choices often determine whether God's design becomes visible in your life. Every day becomes an opportunity to either live smaller than your design or begin walking fully in it.
Sometimes the barrier between us and the life God designed is not ability. It is belief. Many women carry quiet assumptions that limit how they see themselves and what they believe God can do through their lives.
You may need to shed the belief that your past disqualified you. You may need to release the belief that your mistakes erased God's purpose. You may need to rethink the assumption that who you are today is smaller than who God designed you to become.
The Bible consistently shows that God's design is not cancelled by human failure. His mercy exists precisely because people fall short. Your past does not erase your design.
What belief about yourself might be keeping you from walking in the authority God designed you to have?
